PETALING JAYA, MALAYSIA: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Publicity Secretary Teresa Kok said the state cabinet which would be formed by Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, would discuss the issue of Deputy Menteri Besar.
Teresa Kok is the designated Member of Parliament (MP) for Seputeh and state assemblywoman for Bandar Kinrara.
In a press conference, she said Abdul Khalid received the appointment letter and was sworn-in as the 14th Selangor Menteri Besar Thursday (13 Mar). Once he had formed the state cabinet, the state cabinet would discuss the issue of Deputy Menteri Besar.
She said DAP leadership has submitted the exco candidates name list to Khalid. Four of them are Teresa KoK, DAP assemblyman for Sungai Pinang Teng Chang Khim, Pandamaran assemblyman Ronnie Liu, Seri Kembangan assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah.
When asked whether she was one of the candidates for Deputy Menteri Besar, She said DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) would discuss the issue.
According to sources, DAP is rooting for Teresa Kok, its newly elected Bandar Kinrara assemblywoman, to be deputy Menteri Besar of Selangor but PKR is believed to have put up its assemblyman for Sungai Pinang Teng Chang Khim as an alternative.
It is believed that the Khalid Ibrahim requested a deputy with experience in the state assembly, to allow him to get down to business soonest possible.
However, DAP Selangor's objection was that Teng did not well with them at the party level previously.
